Happy World Water Day!Today is World Water Day and a great opportunity to raise public awareness on the uses and benefits of rainwater harvesting
To celebrate this special day, we have organised rainwater harvesting awareness raising activities in fifteen schools in India and Nepal. The children are not only learning about water, rainwater harvesting and the Blue Schools Programme, but are also having some fun with the “Catch the Rain” art competition!
In the spirit of the International Year of Water Cooperation we have organised these events with the help of several local partners: Deepalaya and Project AROEHAN in India and Kanchan Nepal in Nepal. We would like to thank these NGOs for all their hard work and organisation of these activities, their support and local expertise has been invaluable. We are also very grateful to Faber Castell India for providing all the competition materials and prizes to the 14 schools in India.
This is not all we have done! While on her
recent visit to Nepal, our Executive Director, Vessela Monta, helped
several WASH organisations create a Rainwater Harvesting Joint Statement
to be released on World Water Day. This Statement has been published in
several Nepalese publications and hopefully we will see an increase in
the use of rainwater harvesting in this beautiful country.
In April there will be a special edition of
our bRAINstorming newsletter dedicated to all our World Water Day
activities and those of our members. We also want hear from you! Tell us
about your World Water Day celebrations and send us some pictures -
your story could even make it into the newsletter. Also follow our Facebook and Twitter pages to get rainwater harvesting updates throughout the day.
Enjoy your day - and don't forget to Catch the Rain!
